Cloud data spaces are virtual servers – software-defined servers that emulate physical servers. A physical server can host multiple virtual servers, making it easy to provide cloud storage solutions to multiple customers. Using virtual servers increases efficiency because physical servers are otherwise usually operating below capacity, meaning that some of their processing power is wasted.
